Business Mastery · Innovate · Blue Ocean Strategy

Stop fighting in the red ocean

Most companies compete in a red ocean: a crowded market where everyone fights for the same customers, and the water turns red.

Kim and Mauborgne suggest a different path. Create a blue ocean, a market space nobody owns yet, and make the competition irrelevant.

red ocean
a market full of competitors
value innovation
offering more value while lowering cost
to make something irrelevant
to make it no longer matter

Your turn: Is your industry a red ocean or a blue ocean? Explain why in three sentences.

Meet your coach

Hi, I’m Derek

I coach executives and entrepreneurs to stop translating in their heads and start thinking in English, using the best business books and bestsellers.

Before I founded Bizz English, I spent ten years performing on stages around the world, then worked in corporate sales, management and training, and ran my own businesses. I’ve prepared a VP of Finance at the Warsaw Stock Exchange for international negotiations, and a sales director at Play through its merger with Iliad. These courses bring the same method to you, one book at a time.

  • Coaching since 2017, with students from 20 countries
  • Drama degree from Boston University
  • Every lesson follows my Mindful Learning Process: priming, scanning, reading, quizzing and reflection

Do I need to read the books?

No. Each lesson explains the book's key ideas for you. Many students read the books later because they want more.
